About Andrew De Sousa, B.S.C, R.M.T.

After completing his degree in Kinesiology at York University, Andrew quickly enrolled into the Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy, receiving his Diploma in 2017.  Throughout his stay at Sutherland-Chan, he specified courses such as Sport Massage, Rhythmic technique, and Fascial Release.  Adding to his continuing education, Andrew is certified in Kinesio Taping (K-taping), as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine foundations of acupressure and meridian massage.

Andrew has spent the last 3 years living in Banff Alberta, working at a sport and wellness clinic, while enjoying outdoor activities such as snowboarding, hiking, camping, kayaking and mountain-biking.

Andrew has developed a way of treating patients based on visual analysis of body mechanics, as well as soft tissue assessments, with respect to the interdependence of tissues throughout the body. Treatments are based on relieving pain, but also addressing the underlying cause with whatever home-care/exercises he sees fit.  Andrew's goal is to instil a sense of understanding of how the body is a reflection of one’s habits, with differing external (physical environment) and internal (mental/emotional) influences.

Therapy techniques include: general Swedish, sport/therapeutic, myofascial, deep tissue, muscle activation, trigger-point, silicon cupping, K-Taping TMJ treatments, acupressure, rhythmic, breath work and active/passive release techniques.

Andrew is excited about joining Peak Chiro Plus and is looking forward to providing high quality RMT care to the community.
